Team of coach M. Yakin is sitting at the top of the Super League, but could gain only one victory out of their last five matches in all competitions. Big problems for the swiss Champions for the clash against the Red Bulls in St. Jakobs-Park 'cause to the injury-list of M. Díaz (12/2), I. Ivanov (11/0) and F. Schär (15/3) who are definetly out, is added a new one with K. Voser (23/1). Safari (14/0) and T. Xhaka (19/2) are still doubtful and with top striker and captain M. Streller (19/10) and G. Serey Die (11/0) two other very important players are questinable after the match against St. Gallen (1-1) on weekend for thursday. M. Suchy (5/0) will be back while new signing from Aarau D. Callá isn't allowed to play.

The Red Bulls from Salzburg with a convincingly season smashing Ajax 6-1 on aggregates in the previous round and lead the table in Austrian Bundesliga with 25 points distance to second placed Grödig. A boost for this match was the 3-1 victory over Ried on weekend and a superb record with ten victories in a row in league competition. Coach R. Schmidt said, that Basel is a strong team with a lot of experienced players and by no means he will underestimate his team, like Ajax do in previous round with Salzburg. One of their best striker Alan (21/21) is doubtful - not definetly out- , but important defender A. Ulmer (23/1) seems to be back for Thursday. For this match about 1.000 supporters from Salzburg are expected and the second leg in Salzburg was sold out within 4 1/2 hours - 29.320 tickets.

IMO there is clear value on the Red Bulls on Thursday. Everything speaks for the Bulls and all the absences didn't make the situation for the swiss Champion even easier. M. Yakin has the more experienced squad on international level, but the quality is clearly on the guests and I can't believe that the team of M. Yakin could compensate all the absences.
