Leverkusen continue their impressive performances this season, increasing the pressure on leading duo, Dortmund and Bayern. Sociedad produced a big surprise when they managed to better Valencia and finish on the Champions League play-off berth and even a bigger surprise when they eliminated experienced and routined side Lyon in the play-off, but they are out of form since the win over Lyon. The Basques are without a win in their last 6 matches, losing 3 times, including a 0-2 home defeat against Shakhtar on Matchday 1.
Leverkusen should have the upper hand in this tie, as they are in a great form at the moment, especially in front of their own fans. Since April 2012, Leverkusen have played 28 games in all competitions and have only been defeated 3 times, against top opponents: Europa League finalists Benfica, Bayern and Dortmund. Sociedad have been a nice surprise on last season, but after the departure of their coach this summer, Montanier, they are on a downtrend.
