England League One

Bradford vs Tranmere

At the start of the weekend, Bradford are 4th in League One but they may kick off in a lower position as they play a day after the majority of matches in the League. So far, Bradford have picked up 21 points which leaves them just 5 points behind the fast starting Leyton Orient side that leads the table. The Bantams are 4-1-0 at Valley Parade, scoring 14 goals and conceding 3 in those games.Bradford are unbeaten in their last 5 games since a surprise 5-0 loss at League Two Hartlepool United in the Football League Trophy and the side have won 4 of those games. The side are unbeaten in their last 6 home games in all competitions, winning 5 of those games.

Even though Coventry City had a ten point penalty to open the season, it is Tranmere Rovers that are currently bottom of the League One table with only 5 points earned from a possible 30 available. Tranmere have actually earned more points away from home than they have at home, going 1-0-4 while scoring 3 goals and conceding 8.Since beating Oldham Athletic 0-1 at Boundary Park at the end of August, Tranmere have failed to win any of their last 7 games in all competitions and they have lost 6 of those including 5 in a row. Tranmere have really struggled away from home going back to the end of February and they have now lost 10 of their last 11 away games in the League.

Bradford lost 0-3 to Tranmere Rovers when they last met- that game came in the FA Cup six seasons ago at Valley Parade.Prior to that home loss, Bradford had been unbeaten in 5 home games in all competitions against Tranmere and they had won 3 of those games. I don`t like picking teams that are on decent winning runs against teams who have long losing runs, because results will go back towards the mean over a long sample. However, Bradford should be able to extend their recent success in this one as they face a Tranmere Rovers side that have lost a lot of away games in the last few months. There have been a lack of goals in the Tranmere team in those away games and I think Bradford are capable of winning this one with room to spare.
