Schalke - Chelsea
Chelsea lost the first match of the group stages against Basel, but I rate that match as an accident. Because of that, Chelsea needs to win in order to progress to the next stage and don't have unexpected surprises like last year. After the defeat against Basel, they showed good form : 5 victories and 1 draw in 6 matches. Ashley Cole is injured, won't be able to play while Schurrle recovered from his injury suffered in Germany's match against Sweden and will be able to play at Gelsenkirchen.On the other hand, Schalke hasn't impressed much. They won with a lot of chance against Steaua, Schalke was lucky to score the first goal, after that Steaua fell mentally and conceeded two more goals. They lost to Bayern, 0-4, won in the German with only 3-1 against poor Darmstadt. Not to mention the last result against Braunschweig, a 3-2 victory against the weakest team from Bundesliga.
Huntelaar is still injured, Farfan the same, Timo Hildebrand injured himself last week, Kevin Prince Boateng is also injured, has knee problems, Hoger and Jones complete the list of injuries for Schalke.
In this circumstances, I just can't see Chelsea not winning here. They have much more quality then Schalke because of the injuries and Mourinho knows how important a victory at Gelsenkirchen is. I predict a fully motivated Chelsea will be on the pitch tonight and won't give Schalke any chanches, just like they did with Steaua.
