Poland vs Montenegro

Poland welcome Montenegro in a very important World Cup qualifier on Friday night. The Montenegrins lead the chance at the moment, but the hosts are also in the race for a place in Brazil. This is a classic six-pointer and I believe that we are about to see a very entertaining showdown in Warsaw.

With one of the worldˈs best strikers Robert Lewandowski and Kuba Blaszcykowski in the squad everybody expected that Poland would fight with England for a place at the World Cup 2014. However, the Borussia Dortmund duo have not been producing as brilliant displays with the national team as in Bundesliga. As a result, the Poles are currently sitting in forth place in Group H, with four games to go. Nonetheless, Waldemar Fornalikˈs men could still grab a place at the World Cup as they are no more than three points adrift second-place England in the standings. Poland face a must win-situation on Friday night as they welcome the group leaders Montenegro at their Pepsi Arena in Warsaw. Real Madrid target Lukasz Piszczek will be once again sorely missed as he has not recovered from his injury, but I believe that Robert Lewandowski is capable of leading his national team to an important victory. This is the ideal chance for the Poles to return to the winning ways following a 1-1 draw with Moldova.

Lukasz Piszczek misses the clash due to injury, whereas Artur Sobiech, Arkadiusz Milik and Jakub Kosecki are also sidelined. Waldemar Fornalik has no other injury concerns ahead of the match.
Against all odds Montenegro are leading their qualifying group with 14 points from seven games. The Montenegrins are two points clear of the group favourites England in the standings, but with a game in hand. After a four-match winning run, Branko Brnovicˈs team have began to struggle, sharing the spoils with England and losing 4-0 to Ukraine on home soil. The Falcons are eager to start a new winning streak on Friday, but a tie against Poland will be anything but a walk in the park for the visitors. Montenegro have a decent squad, with the likes of Juventus superstar Mirko Vucinic and new Manchester City signing Stevan Jovetic up front, but the team faced all sorts of problems at the back in their last qualifier against Ukraine. Taking everything into account, I am not sure if the Montenegrins are capable of avoiding defeat in Warsaw. Montenegro have not qualified for a major tournament since the county declared independence in 2006.

Mirko Vucinic has recovered from a heel injury, while Savo Pavicevic and Vladimir Volkov are both suspended. Vojvodina midfielder Simon Vukcevic has been recalled. Stevan Jovetic will play up front alongside Mirko Vucinic.

Seeing that the hosts face a must-win situation in this encounter, they are likely to adopt an attack-minded approach on Friday. On the other hand, the visitors have been struggling to find the right form of late and given that they often face difficulties on the travels, there is a big a value in betting on the very motivated hosts.
