OFI - Panionios/ Greece
Panionios is entering to the 2013-14 Greek Superleague without any big
expectations. A similar beginning as last season's is unlikely to
happen. The team is traveling to Iraklio of Crete to face OFI, a team
considered to be among the ones, which will try to avoid relegation,
alongside with Panionios.
OFI has made some interesting additions to the squad. Zoro Kpolo,
Luciano Galleti (former Olympiacos player is back in action after 4
years) and others, who seem ready to fight for their survival. On the
other hand, Panionios will really have problems during the season. The
team has many weaknesses, that start from the goalkeeper till the
offensive line. The board didn't manage to attract any reliable players
except for Mitropoulos (had a descent last season with Panaitolikos and
later with AEK) and the future seems dark for Neosmyrniotes.
However this is the first game that "counts" for both teams and as
long as we are at the early moments of the season, the teams are not
expected to have developed any high level of chemistry. Home advantage
is a thing to mention though. Panionios is an awful team on the road and
this season won't differ from the previous one.
I think that OFI will find a way to score at least a goal, but i am
not sure if the visitors will do the same. The biggest reason i am
backing the home side is the fact that they seem to be more ready than
their opponents, plus the feeling i have that Panionios will barely
avoid the relegation this time.
