I was surprised to see Wigan beaten by Bournemouth on Saturday however I still believe that Owen Coyle’s team is a top favourite to go up and as they have often done during their time in the Premier League, home matches will be a key factor. It’s their first home game of the season and definitely a must-win match.
- Wigan Athletic: influential winger Callum McManaman will start his first of 3 games suspension (he was sent off), while Thomas Rogne, Ali Al Habsi, Gary Caldwell and Ivan Ramis are out through injury.
- Doncaster Rovers: midfielder Dean Furman is back after international duty, while midfielder Harry Forrester is closing on return and is doubt. Jamie McCombe and Marc De Val Fernandez are still on the sidelines with long-term injuries.
Wigan Athletic are set as one of the serious candidates to go back in the Premiership straight away, being club with good budget and good players for this level. They opened the new season with 3-1 home win over Reading, but failed to win away at Bournemouth losing 1-0. For this game they will miss important player as their offensive winger McManaman is suspended. Also 3 defenders are out for Wigan but I bellive against team like Doncaster is it won't have big impact. Wigan have also good dffence line with the likes of Crainey, Perch, Boyce and Barnett. Doncaster wont be pushovers and will try to slow the game, so I rely think this line is too generous. I would play line down to 2.5 at this odds. I think Wigan will win, but most likely with 1-0 or 2-0 in my opinion.
Betting option: 1x2
Pick: Wigan
Odds: 1.55
