 Enlgand Championship

Bolton - Leeds

Bolton Wanderers will be aiming to record their first victory of the season when they welcome Leeds United at their Reebok Stadium. On the other hand, it has been a mixed bag for the visitors so far.

After playing out a 2–2 draw with Stoke City on the last day of the 2011/2012 season Bolton Wanderers were relegated to the Championship by one point and the team failed to return to the top flight last term, but they will have yet another opportunity to do so in the new campaign. The Wanderers have not started the new season as expected and Dougie Freedmanˈs men are yet to record a victory and the ideal chance for the team could be the clash against Leeds United on Saturday. With the likes of Eagles, Chung-Yong Lee and Jay Spearing in the squad the hosts are surely capable of defeating the Whites. Manchester United graduate Chris Eagles has not been in the starting line-up due to an ankle injury since their opener, but he is likely to start the game against Leeds United, meaning that the hosts are even closer to picking up three points at their Reebok Stadium. Dougie Freedman has plenty of options to choose from and I believe that he will soon find the ideal starting line-up, and that the team will finally start climbing the standings.

Joe Riley, Mark Davies and Stuart Holden all miss the match through long-term injuries. Chris Eagles is fully fit and he is likely to take his place in the starting line-up.
Last season Leeds United once more failed to gain promotion to the elite division and the fans are getting impatient and hungry for success. The Whites have continued with their habit ofexperiencing ups and downs at the start of the new Championship campaign. The serene and impressive start at Elland Road when they recorded a 2-1 victory over Brighton has been followed by two consecutive draws and then a narrow defeat at home ground to Queens Park Rangers. Leeds United are currently sitting in 10th position in the standings, but should they happen to surprise Bolton on Saturday, they could even climb to the 5th position. Robert Snodgrass is no longer at Elland Road as he signed for Norwich City last season, but the team have a number of young and very talented players, but also quite a few very experienced footballers. Senegal striker El-Hadji Diouf is not quick and agile as he used to be and Brian McDermott does not count on him in the starting line-up. Taking everything into account, Leeds United, who are not as impressive on the road as they are at Elland Road, are likely to lose the match at Reebok Stadium.

Sam Byram could make his debut for Leeds United on Saturday after he played 90 minutes in a midweek friendly. Brian McDermott has a full squad to choose from for the match against Bolton.

In last two meetings between the two teams at Reebok Stadium Bolton Wanderers scored 6 goals, recording 4-1 victory and playing out a 2-2 with Leeds United. The hosts will be very motivated to record their first victory of the season and I believe that there is enough quality in Dougie Freedmanˈs side to pick up all three points from this clash.
