Wrexham vs Southport
The Dragons have not made the kind of start they anticipated before this season began as they currently reside in a precarious 20th place and despite being accustomed to being placed in or around the top six usually, they have their work cut out to catch up those clubs currently in the play-off pack. Wrexham’s home record stands at 2-2-2 9/9 and inconsistency at home has been their major stumbling block so far with uncharacteristic defeats to Chester 0-2 and Braintree Town 2-3 already.
Onto the visitors then, and as mentioned, Southport’s form away from their Haig Avenue home ground has been pretty woeful with an overall record that stands at 1-0-6 4/12 so far. They are the second lowest goalscoring team away from home in the division with 4 goals, and this has resulted in six losses on the trot.Defeats at Nuneaton Town, Halifax Town, Tamworth, Lincoln City, Braintree Town and Dartford (scoring just 2 goals in the process) has prevented the Sandgrounders from attaining a higher league position as they still remain unbeaten at home.
Despite Wrexham’s slow start to the season, I fancy them to take the points here tonight given Southport’s poor away record and conceding is an almost certainty; I’ll back Wrexham for a narrow win at a pretty good price for the straight win.
